Roger’s Dream Team member
Nushaiba Tabassum
Nushaiba is almost six years old. Since arriving in Canada from Bangladesh in June 2005, Nusha, as her team mates call her, has flourished excelling in school, making friends and becoming a regular visitor to Roger’s House.
Nusha has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a progressive genetic disorder and is in wheel chair with limited movement in her hands and neck. A true champion, Nusha never lets this slow her down and she participates in activity possible including playing, reading, watching cartoons, using a laptop, doing crafts, swinging in the play ground.
Being strong willed is one of her key attributes on the ice as is her willingness to help others, particularly her teammates.
Going to Roger’s House is something this young Dream team member loves to do because it is a place where she is able to do almost everything a six years old girl wants to do. Her parents get a great sense of relief having the Roger’s House team at their side.
“We feel safe to leave our baby with them and know she is happy there. It helps us get on with our lives.”
