5TH ANNUAL DIRECT ENERGY WALK, ROLL & RUN FOR ROGER’S HOUSE PRESENTED BY SCOTIABANK IS SET FOR SUNDAY, SEPT. 9
OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators Foundation announced today the Direct Energy Walk, Roll & Run for Roger’s House presented by Scotiabank is set for Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Brookstreet Resort in Kanata, Ont.
Event registration is now open and a new website has been launched for the fifth annual event, which can be accessed by visiting the Sens Foundation website at: www.ottawasenatorsfoundation.com.
Roger's House is the charity of choice of the Sens foundation. Located on the grounds of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Roger's House provides a comprehensive pediatric respite and palliative care program with elements of outreach, residential hospice, pain and symptom management, grief and bereavement counseling; and research.
Since opening its doors in May 2006, Roger's House has had 195 admissions. The welcoming home-away-from-home atmosphere comforts children and families that are admitted to the state-of-the-art, eight-bedroom facility, where dedicated professionals and volunteers provide the very best in compassionate care and support.
The Sens foundation has made a long-term commitment to cover an important portion of the annual operating costs for Roger’s House. The Direct Energy Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House, with its two-, five-, and 10-kilometre event routes, is a terrific way to get involved and support the Sens foundation, while making an important and lasting contribution to countless children and their family members in a great time of need.
In 2006, the Direct Energy Walk, Roll & Run for Roger’s House raised $235,000 and boasted close to 1,000 participants. Ottawa Senators players Mike Fisher, Jason Spezza and Chris Kelly welcomed event participants, Spartacat led the pre-event stretch and Max Keeping emceed the festivities.
The 5th Annual Direct Energy Walk, Roll & Run for Roger’s House promises to be another success. For full event details and to register for the event, visit www.ottawasenatorsfoundation.com.
